Should you watch it?
Watch it if
- You like first-day temptation setups
- You want two free episodes to test the tone
- You prefer a short five-episode run
Skip it if
- You want a slow-burn plot with layers
- You look for genre tags before you press play
Verdict: A tight five-episode hook with a clear premise and two free episodes to test it. It is light on tags and detail, so judge it on the setup: if the first-day temptation appeals, the rest will too.
What is The New Girl about?
The New Girl begins with a promise and a locked door. A guy walks onto campus for his first day carrying his girlfriend’s warning to behave, and a newcomer in the dorm decides attendance is optional. Neither of them is in a hurry to leave the room, and the warning is about to be tested.
That is the entire hook, and it is a clean one: a boyfriend with good intentions, a girlfriend who is not in the room, and a stranger who has no interest in either. Emilia Vermont plays the lead, and Emilia Vermont in Candy Shorts lists the rest of her work. Candy attaches no genre tags to this series, so the premise carries the mood: temptation on day one.
One note on the cast: every character is an adult, this is a campus story about grown students, and everyone on screen is fictional and AI-generated.
Is The New Girl free to watch?
The opening is. Episode 1 plays on Candy with no sign-up, and a free account opens Episode 2. Episodes 3, 4 and 5 then cost 12 tokens each, so reaching the end adds up to 36 tokens, well inside the 100 tokens that come with a Premium month. Not ready to pay for anything? Our guide to watching Candy Shorts free shows how far the no-cost route goes, and the pricing and tokens page explains how tokens work.
There is nothing to install, since candy.ai runs in a phone or desktop browser. Candy doesn’t publish runtimes, so we can’t offer a minute count, only five short vertical episodes. Subtitles come in seven languages, English included, and the series page carries a Chat with the Cast button for when the credits leave you curious. Watch on Candy itself; copies posted elsewhere are clipped or counterfeit, and some are traps.
Who should watch it, and who should skip?
Press play if you like premises that fit in one breath and a series that gets moving immediately. Our honest take: it is a compact, inexpensive sample of campus-set temptation, and the two free episodes tell you whether the tone works before you spend a token.
Skip it if you want layered plots, a big cast or tags that signal a specific genre. This is one idea, played straight, and it knows it. Think of it as the appetizer on Candy’s menu: quick to start, cheap to finish and easy to compare against whatever you try next.
What to watch after The New Girl
Three next steps, depending on what you liked:
- Caught Between Sisters keeps Emilia Vermont in the lead and swaps the dorm for a sibling rivalry stretched across 15 episodes.
- Couples Therapy With Margot Vey has the same five-episode, 36-token shape, with a therapist who writes herself into a couple’s sessions.
- Tori’s Broken Vows is members-only and needs Premium, so treat it as the step up once you know you want more.

Frequently asked questions
Is The New Girl free?
Part of it is. Episode 1 plays on Candy with no sign-up, and a free account opens Episode 2. Episodes 3 to 5 are paid, and a Premium month includes 100 tokens, which is enough to cover all three. You don't need Premium to start watching today.
How much does Episode 3 of The New Girl cost?
Episode 3 costs 12 tokens, and Episodes 4 and 5 cost the same, so the paid stretch totals 36 tokens. That is well under the 100 tokens a Premium month carries, so one month of membership would more than cover the ending.
Are the characters in The New Girl adults?
Yes. Every character on Candy Shorts is a fictional, AI-generated adult, and The New Girl is set among grown students on a college campus. We describe people only by their roles, and nothing on this page should be read as suggesting otherwise.
